The Rest of the Pack

Keesha,CGC,TDI
June 1991-June 2003

Keesha was my 1st Aussie. I purchased her for $25 while attending graduate school in Wyoming; she was purebred but unregistered--her parents worked stock at the local slaughterhouse for a living. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I could not have asked for a better companion--she loved to go trail riding, would play fetch all day or just hang out. However Keesha was dog aggressive--you never knew what might set her off in her younger days. As Keesha grew older and became more arthritic, it was usually a bump from another more exuberant dog that would set her off. Just learning how to cope and manage her was stressful but worth it. Having lived with a dog like Keesha has caused me to make good, sound temperaments a high priority in my breeding program.

Snap

Snap is our token black lab. Snap is a typical lab--loves everyone, exuberant about life even at 12 years of age!!! No one who meets him can believe he is that old---the only tell tale signs are the graying muzzle and cataract clouded eyes.

Scooter
May 1982- June 2004

A Wyoming import, Scooter was a registered American Quarter horse. Before I purchased him, Scoot was a working ranch horse and had the brand to prove it. While at school, we used to help out with the Spring cattle drives---getting up at 3 am, gathering cattle in the lower pastures in the pre-dawn hours, and trailing them up to the summer mountain pastures in the Medicine Bow mountains. During his later years, we mostly rode trails with the dogs plus he helped me teach my daughter how to ride. Ive seen a good amount of gorgeous country both in Wy and PA plus states in between thanks to my horse. During the last 2 years of Scooter's life, we battled the disease heaves, or as known in humans, asthma. I watched my gentle white horse from Wyoming drop weight precipitously during the Spring 2004 using up his energy stores just to breath. We adjusted his meds, increased his grain and even with lush green pastures to graze, he continued to drop weight. The only kind thing to do was to say goodbye and let him join Keesha. I told him to go play cow pony with her and Id catch up with them later.
