Nitani Puppy Info

All Nitani puppies are from breedings determined to benefit the breed. We breed for both physical and mental soundness. Both sire and dam are certified free of hip dysplasia through OFA and free of eye defects through CERF. Mental soundness is a must in both sire and dam. The pups are raised in our home and are socialized daily. All puppies receive vaccinations and an initial eye check by a certified canine opthamologist before going to their new homes. Puppies are eligible for registration with both AKC and ASCA. All puppies are sold to qualified buyers only--we require 3 personal references-- with one of the following contracts:

Show
Puppies sold with this type of contract are suitable for showing and breeding. These pups are held on a co-ownership until they have passed their OFA and CERF clearances plus have earned one of the following titles: CH, CDX, OA or other Open performance title. These pups are sold to serious show homes only, not for breeding purposes only. The contract guarantees the health of the puppy, free of any show disqualifying faults and hereditary defects affecting its suitability for breeding. These pups are sold with full registration. Cost: $1000-$1500

Companion
Puppies sold with this type of contract are wonderful companions and possible performance prospects, but are not for breeding or conformation showing. This contract guarantees the health of the puppy. These pups are sold with limited registration and need to be spayed or neutered at 6 months of age. Cost: $700-$900

Please understand that the careful breeding of puppies on a limited basis is not a made-to-order business. We try to be as expedient as possible in determining which puppies are Show quality and which are Companion quality. Show quality is not determined by color/markings apparent at birth but by overall structure/movement. Structure and movement cannot be judged until between 6-8 weeks of age. Both Companion and Show puppies are physically and mentally sound; the differences are based on the pup's comparison to the breed standard. Only puppies determined to contribute to the betterment of the breed are sold as show quality.

All Nitani puppies are placed with a lifetime guarantee of satisfaction. We feel comfortable doing so since we place our dogs so carefully. Three considerations that Nitani takes into account when placing a pup: puppy buyer's experience and capabilities with an Aussie, the buyers desires in a dog and whether our dogs will fit that need, and if our dogs will be happy in their home, environment and lifestyle. With these three considerations, our dogs generally end up in ideal homes. Our dogs' well being and health are our first concern which is why we have a satisfaction guarantee--the pup can always come home here no matter what.

Reservations: When a reservation for a dog is placed, a $100 nonrefundable deposit is required and will be deducted from the price of the puppy. No pups will be held without a deposit. Should a breeding not produce the type(show or companion), sex or color reserved, the buyer may use the deposit towards another pup in the same litter or a puppy from a future litter.

Recommended litters: All color litter due in Febuary 2010 at Sawbuck Aussies in Perkiomenville, PA. This litter should be very versatile--bred to do it all. Mom is titled in agility and dad is a working dog with numerous herding titles as well as conformation points. Please contact Beth Dollar of Sawbuck Aussies at sawbuck@dejazzd.com

Please take time to educate yourself about Aussies before adding one to the family. Aussies are a highly intelligent and athletic breed. They do well in most homes but not all. There are also a variety of possible genetic problems in the Australian Shepherd breed. It is in your best interest to educate yourself about them before acquiring an Aussie puppy. A good place to start is here.
